A Story Written
in Ochre and Memory
I'm Alannah Brown — a proud Aboriginal woman and digital artist whose work is an act of remembrance, connection, and love for Country.
On my mother's side, I belong to the Biripi Mob from Taree (Dumas family) and the Barkindji Mob from Mildura (O'Donnells). On my father's side, I carry the Country of the Yuin Nation — Walbunja people — and the Walwun Mob from Gulargambone.
I work in two mediums — original hand-painted dot paintings on canvas and digital artworks — and every piece, regardless of medium, begins with story. With memory passed down through family. With the shapes and colours of the landscapes that made my people. Customers can commission either: a physical painting you can touch and frame, or a high-resolution digital file ready to print anywhere in the world.
Alongside my art practice, I co-founded Brown Sugar & More — a 100% Aboriginal-owned family homeware business bringing Indigenous-inspired design into everyday living. The same values run through everything we make: story, Country, and connection.
"When I create, I'm not just making something beautiful. I'm keeping story alive. Every dot, every colour, every line is a word in a language older than writing."— Alannah Brown, Artist
